Probably the biggest misconception about short hair is that there isn’t much you can do with it. That just isn’t the case. There are tons of great hairstyles out there for ladies with short locks and the celebrities on this list prove it. With summer coming, many women are looking for hot summer hairstyles for short hair because it’s just far easier to deal with than long locks. Plus, find the right cut and you have a great look. Ashlee Simpson’s Textured Wave
Ashlee Simpson is a beautiful girl with an oval face shape and big, bright eyes and this cut perfectly accentuates all of her best features. It’s soft and romantic but still young and contemporary. The problem with short hair sometimes is that it can make the person wearing it appear older but Ashlee has really found the perfect balance with this style. It’s classy and sophisticated but doesn’t age her. The side part with the textured wave is a great way to set the style apart from some of the other, similar short haircuts out there.
Cameron Diaz’s Straight Bob
I love this look for Cameron Diaz. It’s classy but still fun and flirty. Cameron was absolutely beautiful with long hair but she’s really made her shorter, easier to maintain style work for her. This is a great cut because it works on a variety of face shapes, it is easy to take care of and it can also be dressed up for more formal occasions. In the photo above Cameron is sporting a messier style but you can easily apply a small amount of styling product to your hair and comb down the fly aways for a sleeker, more sophisticated look.
Christina Hendricks’ Voluminous Bob
Christina Hendricks is one of the most beautiful women in the entertainment industry today and her short bob has a lot to do with that. You can get this look even if your hair isn’t as thick as Christina’s appears to be by using hair care products that add volume and teasing the roots of your hair ever so gently. The great thing about this style is that while the color is definitely the star of the show, the style itself is eye catching as well. It compliments Christina’s square face shape beautifully but can also be altered to suit other face shapes as well.
Cobie Smulders’ Wavy Bob
While I do enjoy Cameron Diaz’s straight bob, I prefer the wavy bob Cobie Smulders is rocking in the photo above. There’s just something very sensual and romantic about it. It’s a classic sort of style that feels very glamorous but wouldn’t really take a whole lot of effort to do if you know your way around a set of curlers. You’ll want to use a medium hold hairspray to keep the waves in without making them look stiff or crunchy. This is a great look anyone can pull off. The side part is really just icing on the cake.
Dianna Agron’s Textured Bob with Exposed Roots
Remember when it was cool to skip a scheduled dye job so your roots would show? That time has come again. Dianna Agron is a fabulous young actress to look to for new style inspirations because she always seems to be just a step ahead. This fun, youthful and flirty textured bob with dark exposed roots is a great example of that. To get Dianna’s look for your textured bob cut, blow dry your hair while you run your fingers through it, shaking your hair so it falls loosely as you blow dry. Put a dab of styling product in your palm and work it through your hair from the roots to the tips. Don’t use too much because you want your hair to stay light and bouncy. Finish it up with a bit of pomade on the ends of your bangs to keep them hanging properly. Quick, easy and stylish – perfect short haircut for summer.
Edie Falco’s Windblown Locks
Words can’t describe how much I love Edie Falco so I’m thrilled to be able to put her on this list. She’s not just here because I love her though. She’s here because the style she’s sporting in the photo above is absolutely fantastic. The messy windblown look with a deep side part is youthful, fun and quite lovely. The great thing about this look is that it can work on nearly any face shape although it is probably best suited for the heart shaped face.
Evan Rachel Wood’s Choppy Pixie Cut
We’re going to talk about the classic pixie cut later but for now let’s talk about Evan Rachel Wood’s edgy take on the style. I absolutely love her choice to go bold and modern with her pixie cut. While I am a fan of the more traditional style, Evan has taken it to a whole new level. It takes a little styling product to get your pixie cut looking like Evan’s but the result is worth the extra effort. Fun, fresh and stylish, this is a great short summer hairstyle that will definitely turn heads. You can play around with the style a little bit too. Try parting your hair to the side as Evan has done in the photo above and adding a little wave to the front. It gives the style a much softer, romantic feel.
Michelle Williams’ Pixie Cut
I adore Michelle Williams and I adore her pixie cut. This particular short hairstyle really works best on oval face shapes but the great thing about it is that there are variations for nearly every face shape. The pixie cut is fun and flirty, easy to look after and can suit absolutely any occasion. Don’t have a lot of extra time in the morning? The pixie might be perfect for you! You can wash it and go or you can skip washing it altogether (within reason, of course). You can dress it up with a nice headband (as Michelle often does) or just leave it plain. You can also make it more stand out by adding a medium hold styling product. Put a dab in your palm and work it through your hair from root to tip. This will give your hair an almost spiky look that is lots of fun!
Rachel McAdams’ Classic Wavy Bob
We’ve talked about wavy bobs a little bit so far but I really couldn’t do this article without talking about this beautiful Rachel McAdams look. It’s absolutely stunning – real old Hollywood glamour on full display. It’s not a hard look to get either as long as you have the right products. Start with a little mousse on your damp hair. Using a round brush, separate hair into two inch sections and blow dry, making sure you lift the top of the hair as you work. This gives you hair that lovely volume. Roll your hair around the brush several times. Be careful not to pull your hair or get it stuck in the brush. When you’re done, spray your hair with a light misting of styling spray then roll sections of hair around large hot rollers. Make sure you roll your hair all the way up to the roots. Clip your curlers in place. Leave the curlers in for about twenty minutes then remove them. Finish up by smoothing curls with a soft brush and spraying your hair with medium hold hair spray. All done!
Viola Davis’ Wavy Curls
I once heard someone say women with curly hair should stay away from short hair but I’d have to say Viola Davis proves that is complete non-sense. Her soft, romantic wavy curls aren’t just beautiful but they’re also fairly easy to do on your own. You can read more about making curly hair wavy in this article. I have to admit that this probably isn’t a look you can pull off every day as it can take a bit of work for women with especially curly hair but it is great for a night out, offering a classic but modern look nearly anyone can pull off.
