Avoiding the following things when you are trying to conceive will help you and your future baby be fit from the time of conception until childbirth.

Dangerous Food and Items

It is common knowledge that smoking, using illegal drugs, too much drinking and coffee are a major no-no when you are trying to get pregnant. There is nothing good that these food and items can give you. Aside from those stated above, studies have shown that the acid on most lubricants on the market are toxic to the sperm. If you are trying to conceive, it is better to stay away from all of the things that might affect your pregnancy. If you really need to use a lubricant, some manufacturers offer products that are not toxic to the man’s sperm.

Some Kinds Of Fish

A lot of fish contain a lot of good things for the body. They are full of DHA and Omega-3 acids that play a huge part in the development of the baby. But note that some kinds of fish have high amounts of mercury. Mercury is dangerous to the nervous system when ingested in high amounts. You don’t have to worry because most fish have very little amounts of mercury. Tunas, king mackerel, tilefish and swordfish are some fish that have high levels of mercury and should definitely be avoided when you are trying to get pregnant.

Ample Exercise

Unless you are already a trained athlete or bodybuilder, over exerting your exercise is not good for the body. Avoid going crazy with physical activities because it stresses your body.

 

For women, intense exercises can lead to hormonal changes which can cause your ovaries not to release eggs. You also need to avoid doing nothing for too long. Fueling your body with the right kind of exercise can help reduce your blood pressure and help decrease stress. Do exercises in moderation and don’t make the fitness center your second home if you still have plans to have a baby.

Not Visiting the Dentist

Along with taking care of your whole body, you should also not ignore your oral care. Periodontal disease can lead to a low-weight baby with complications. Even if you are not yet pregnant getting your teeth and gums healthy is one thing you should never ignore.

 

Waiting For Too Long

If you are 40 years old, you are half as fertile compared to when you were just 20 years old. You may need to visit a doctor about your age and the odds of having a child. Men with ages 50 and above have a high chance of being infertile too.

Not Taking Vitamins and Medications

Stopping your intake of your meds could be dangerous not only for you but also for the baby. Never stop taking medications and vitamins without consulting your doctor. If you are being treated for diabetes, high blood pressure and etc. it is important to not skip your medication.

 

If you are experiencing seizures, stopping intake of your medication could lead to the baby running out of oxygen. Consult your doctor to make a treatment plan that will be safe for you and your future baby. Chances are he will only lessen your dosage. While stopping taking medication is bad, it is worse to double your intake of vitamins. It is okay to take prenatal vitamins as it helps prevent birth defects. But don’t overdose on vitamins because it is linked to problems in a growing baby.
